Indie Film Burt, 9am
Burt is a deeply human and quietly powerful indie feature inspired by a real Los Angeles street musician, Burt Berger, who's living with Parkinson’s disease. The film has already earned early praise—including a thoughtful, positive review from the Los Angeles Times in addition to an article they had previously done on the making of the film.
The film is directed by our guest Joe Burke and starring guest Oliver Cooper (Project X, “Red Oaks”). Written and produced by Burke, Cooper, and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express). It features a remarkable debut performance from Burt, playing a version of himself, in addition to his scene-stealing real life roommate Steven Levy, also making his film debut. The result is an emotionally resonant portrait of art, vulnerability, and the kind of human connection that too often goes unnoticed.
