The Top Ten Video Games You Should Be Excited About

So many games are being released in the coming months that it might be hard to decide which ones are worth being excited about. Well, we're here with a field guide so you don't have to think about it.

#1 – Batman: Arkham City

When Arkham Asylum came out late last year, Batman fans and action/adventure fans were blown away at the amount of polish and perfection put into the game. Personally, I think it was one of the greatest games to come out of 2009. The team at Rocksteady is back with their second installment Batman: Arkham City where the Joker has taken over Gotham which is now run with goons and plagued with anarchy. If the last game is anything to go by, you should already have your money ready to buy this. Let's just hope they did something about the boss fights.

#2 – Mass Effect 3

Up until recently, Playstation 3 owners were out of luck, doomed to miss this amazing trilogy. All that is changed, Mass Effect on PS3! You'll miss out on the first game, but two out of three isn't so bad. The game's story is pretty standard, space marine needs to save the universe from complete destruction, but it's more about the journey there. While playing you'll be asked to make decisions which force you to choose sides, maybe killing one guy to save yourself or sacrificing a teammate to save a village, etc.. It's a brilliant trilogy and in the third installment you will apparently be in the position to protect Earth…and well just watch the trailer. But make sure you at least pay the second one before playing this!!

#3 – Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat! …hasn't been that great since the third installment, and in this edition their making an attempt to go back to that formula. And fans are going insane. No more awkward fighting on a 3D plane, just classic gameplay with updated graphics and more. The new fatalities look insane, they actually modeled the skin, organs and skeleton so that when you cut someone open, or go into the new "x-ray mode" you'll wince at their bones breaking and insides ughing.

#4 – Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

The Uncharted series may be the greatest action/adventure/my-girlfriend-asks-me-to-play-so-she-can-watch game ever. It's got it all, charming characters, exciting adventures, high action, babes; it's like a modern Indiana Jones. With babes. Uncharted 3 takes place in the desert and while details are still minimal, this game is set to be a blast.

#5 – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Zelda: you either love the games to death or you think their childish and boring. I'm one of the people who love them to death. This installment looks a lot nicer than the last, Twilight Princess, but everything really kind of…looks like good old Zelda. The controls are supposedly improved as well, so that's cool. But above all it's a new Zelda and justifies me owning a Wii.

#6 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Oblivion, the previous Elder Scrolls game, took away a large chunk of my life. I'd stay up pickpocketing civilians, slaying monsters on the back of my trusty steed (Sasha, may she rest in peace) and knocking back a few brews and picking fights with the guards. Yes, it was a simpler, medieval time and I know this new game is going to be just as great — if not better.

#7 – Bulletstorm

Bulletstorm is a new IP by the same team who brought you Gears of War and Shadow Complex, Epic, and if their track record is any indicator then this new game should be a blasty-blast. It looks like a combination of Call of Duty, Halo and Borderlands with a hint of Devil May Cry or something similar. You get "style points" for killing your enemies in creative ways, and they make sure you have plenty of options for every situation. The dialog is kind of hilarious-ly cheesy by the way.

#8 – Marvel vs Capcom 3

Mahvel's back baby! Where yo curleh mustache at? If you don't get the reference, you're probably not as excited about this as I am. The cast of Capcom and the cast of Marvel duke it out in the most flashy extravagant way imagine able. This game is just fun, where else can you see Dante (Devil May Cry) and Deadpool go neck to neck?

#9 – Killzone 3

I wish I had a 3D television and the Move, this is a game for the future generation of gamers. But ignoring that, the game itself looks insane. Killzone is one of those games where everyone seems to hate but have no real reasons for it, it's a great series; and the third edition looks really good. I'm pretty excited about it.

#10 – Portal 2

Portal was such an amazing game, if you haven't played it you're missing out — go play it now. They've added co-op, Co-op! It's going to rock hard, this is a triumph.
