Question: Social Media Ruining School Dances?

Ah, school dances -- the awkwardness, anticipation and drama. It's was a time of our lives some of us remember fondly, while it's a ritual others of us would rather forget.

While it used to be just about the only place outside of school where we could hang out and connect with big groups of our friends, high school students are now using social media to hang out instead and skipping the dances, according to an article on today.com.

Lisa Kor, Asst. Principal at John Jay High School in Cross River, N.Y. told Today.com that at one time, the only place to been seen was at a dance on Friday night. But the numbers are slowly dwindling, and she thinks social media is to blame.

"Now, they're texting, they're Snapchatting, they're Skyping, they're FaceTiming — they are so connected in so many ways they never used to be that they don't need the school necessarily to provide the connection," Kor told Today.com.
