Getting in the Pool for Record Attempt

My friend Sonia is a very thoughtful and caring person.  Sonia is always busy especially when it comes to awareness and fundraising.   Sonia is also a breast cancer survivor who I met right after I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.  I have been so grateful to have her in my life.  She gave me wonderful advice before and after my mastectomy 2 years ago.  She's always willing to help others going through their journeys.  Months ago, Sonia thought of an idea - to create the largest human floating pink ribbon!  Whaaat?  Now keep in mind that she's a synchronized swimmer and coach so it made sense.  I just knew there was something more to the "idea"... and then she asked me or rather TOLD me that I was going to be part of it.  I automatically panicked because  I'm not a great swimmer and am very self conscience of my body and being in a swimsuit is not on the top of my list of social events.  However, this event is not about me, right?  It's about raising funds for Komen for the Cure and raising awareness.  So, this attempt is taking place tomorrow, Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 10am at the Roseville Aquatic Center, 3051 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. in Roseville.  It will take an hour.  For more, visit http://www.worldrecordfloat.com/index.html. 

October is breast cancer awareness month... other events include:

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer which is a 5K walk starting on the west side of the state capitol.  Registration is at 7am and walk starts at 8am.  Co-worker Lisa Gonzales will be the emcee this year.  http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=35958

Gals on the Green is a yearly golf tournament and this year it's on Monday, October 17, 2011, at Catta Verdera.  It's sold out but golf balls are still on sale for the golf ball drop.  Golf balls are $25 each or 5 for $100.  They will all be dropped from a helicopter for a chance to win $1K, $500 and $250 if the ball you purchase lands closest to the hole.
