2nd Annual Tamale Contest
It was our second-annual Tamale Throwdown on the Good Day set this morning.
We like eating championships...and we eat like champions, as you've probably noticed by our tendency to get food into our shows whenever possible.
But not every eating competition that gets pitched makes it onto the show. Here are some eating competitions that didn't make the cut:
"Cody's Chitterling Choke-down", "Courtney's Natto Nibble", and "Alan's Prairie Oyster Pig-Out", which Alan would no doubt dominate.
By the way, you'd be surprised to see how much of our cook set is fake. Pretty much the only real parts are the range and the fridge. Several people found out the sink was fake the hard way, after they poured old coffee down it.
Back to Tamale Throwdown. Lisa Gonzales called it a huge success, especially because Julissa came back.
We had a "tamale tie", but in the end, Deneen Torres was crowned the winner. Read the recipe.
A special thank you to our contestants and our judges: Patrick Kemp from Centro Cocina Mexicana in Sacramento, Amalia and Jamie from Amalia's Cocina, & of course, Mark S. Allen.
