Two Injured In Small Plane Crash Near Stephenville

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A small plane crash just north of Stephenville early Friday morning sends two people to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to DPS Trooper Dub Gillum, the crash was reported just after 9:00am after the pilot of the small Piper aircraft attempted to land on Hwy 67 after a report of engine problems.

During the emergency landing attempt, the pilot crashed into a grove of trees alongside the highway, flipping the aircraft upside down.

Two people on board the aircraft have been transported via medical helicopter to JPS hospital in Fort Worth with serious injuries.

Two dogs were also in the aircraft and taken to a local veterinarian, their injuries are unknown.

According to The Stephenville Empire Tribune, professional team roper York Gill was the piloting the aircraft.
