Target Offering Discounts, Free Credit Monitoring

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – As an apology to the approximately 40 million Target credit card holders whose personal information was compromised in one of the largest consumer security breaches ever, the retail giant offered a 10% discount to all customers making in store purchases on Saturday and Sunday.  Target also promised to offer free credit monitoring services for everyone impacted by the breach.

Meanwhile, as a result of the breach, JPMorgan Chase Bank placed temporary limits on cash withdrawals and purchases for customers whose cards were identified to be at risk.  Customers are limited to cash withdrawals of $100 and purchases totaling no more than $300 per day until their cards can be replaced.

Chase Bank branches in the DFW area and across the country opened their doors on Sunday to assist customers affected by the breach, which impacted Target customers who used their debit and credit cards between November 27 and December 15 in Target's U.S. stores.  About a third of Chase's local branches opened from 12-4 p.m. to help customers who needed to gain access to money in their accounts.
