Snoop Patrick's Day Weekend: My Top 10 CBS Contemplations

Snoop Crowd

10. If not for all the green and some of the sun-kissed skin, the confirmation that it was indeed the St. Patrick's Day/Greenville Ave. Parade Saturday arrived when I was riding on the 105.3 The Fan float, grabbed a marshmallow tossed my way, realized it was soaked in vodka, took a bite and then flung it back into the crowd. You're welcome!

9. On the same night the U.S. baseball team and Duke basketball team were eliminated from their tournaments. Very un-American.

8. Love March Madness, but it won't be the same without defending champion Kentucky and sans any team from Texas. UT-Arlington and Stephen F. Austin were the Lone Star State's best chances, but they both lost tight conference championship games Saturday night. First time since 1977 Texas has no representation. Bummer.

7. Cowboys still haven't signed a free agent, but they may play in the Aug. 4 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. Larry Allen will be inducted and Jerry Jones will be presenting him. Makes sense.

6. Watched Georges St.-Pierre whip Nick Diaz in UFC 158 Saturday night, and also kept an eye on his next contender – Dallas' own Johnny Hendricks. Dude has such a thick beard that I truly wonder if it helps absorb and cushion blows to his face and jaw.

5. Snoop Dogg – equipped with backup dancers and the Nasty Dogg in the giant stuffed headgear – played all his familiar tunes at the post-parade concert. And added a surprise: "Who up in here loves rock 'n roll music?" he yelled. And with that, broke into Joan Jett's classic. He also shocked some by playing "No Guns Allowed!" in gun-lovin' Dallas.

4. I'll post my March Madness full bracket in this space tomorrow. But I really don't get how Oregon is a No. 12 seed? The Ducks finished 2nd in the Pac 12 and beat UCLA for the Pac 12 tournament championship, and the Bruins are a 6 seed. Makes zero sense.

3. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kind of rooting for the Miami Heat. They're at 22 wins and counting entering tonight's game at Boston. Miami is the best team. They will win the NBA title in June. So if we've gotta watch them win, why not watch history while we're at it?

2. Last week we suffered watching the Mavs lose two nail-biters to Western Conference elite San Antonio and Oklahoma City. Against the Spurs Vince Carter missed a jumper at the buzzer and against the Thunder Dirk Nowitzki didn't take a shot the last 14 minutes. This team just isn't good enough to be dumb.

1. Nothing like walking on stage to introduce Snoop Dogg and seeing about 7,000 screaming fans. Made me proud to be a Dallasite. If for only one day, we "stood" as one. Take a bow. Well done.
