MIDLOTHIAN (1080 KRLD) - Six months have passed since Midlothian fitness instructor Missy Bevers was murdered, but police aren't any closer to catching her killer.

Family and friends say they have grown frustrated with the lack of movement in the case. Police haven't named any suspects nor have they made any arrests.

Renee Jones worked alongside Bevers and says she misses her good friend.

"Her love for her kids and love for her family. She was a very family oriented person. Her laugh. I miss everything about her," says Jones.

Jones says she is planning a 5K run on November 5 in Waxahachie to honor Bevers since she made a tremendous impact on the lives of many.

"Her passion lives on, her life lives on. There are many in our group that still do a certain type of burpee in her honor. She made such a difference in the lives of those she touched," Jones says.

"I think it's more important we celebrate what she did while she was alive rather than the way she passed it's a horrible thing I want her killers to be caught however I just choose not to focus on the negative," says Phillips.

Bevers was found bludgeoned to death in the Creekside Church of Christ in the early morning hours of April 18. Surveillance video shows a suspect walking around in police tactical gear in the church before Bevers arrived.

Midlothian Police say they do not have a suspect yet but do have persons of interest under investigation. They have received more than 1200 tips and have recently brought in some outside experienced homicide detectives to offer a new set of eyes on the case.
