Sansom Park Woman Found Dead On Tanning Bed

SANSOM PARK (CBSDFW.COM) – The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is awaiting the results of toxicology reports to determine what killed Rhonda Waits, 46, who was found lying face down in a tanning bed inside her home.

Her boyfriend discovered her body early Sunday morning when he arrived home from a three day vacation to the home they shared in the 5000 block Terrace Trail. He called 911.

The tanning bed, which operates on a timer, was off when police arrived. The radio was on and police found medications nearby, but found no signs of forced entry into the home or signs of foul play.

Waits's daughter said the death of her mother came as a shock, as the family had no indications that Waits had any health problems.

Though the medical examiner has not made a final ruling on the cause of death, they do know one thing.

"I've spoken to the medical examiners office. There is no sign that her death was linked to the tanning bed," said Samsom Park Police Chief Randy Driver.

Craig Thommason, a long-time neighbor, said Waits was nice person.

"Real friendly, everytime I saw her outside, she always talked to me," Thommason said.
