On January 31, 2013, Mark Hasse was shot several times as he walked from the parking lot to the Kaufman County Courthouse. The murder was especially brazen because it happened just before 9 o'clock in the morning.

Kaufman County Sheriff's have been working non-stop to solve the murder and have been joined by members of the Texas Rangers, state troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and ATF agents.

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland also said investigators are expanding the search area for the murderer. You never know what you might catch."

As it stands, authorities are still on the lookout for at least one suspect, possibly two, who were involved in the shooting.  The individuals are believed to be male and at the time of the murder were possibly dressed in black clothing. The race of the suspects is unknown.
