DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) — A Denton woman is standing by her neighbor and his decision to continue his show of patriotism.

The man who flies a total of 4 military flags along with an American flag outside of his mobile home in the Hickory Creek Mobile Home Park in Denton didn't want his identity revealed.

However, his neighbor Rebeckah Vernon had plenty to say.

She says, "This guys has always been nice and respectful. He's a veteran himself. I think he should be respected, and definitely the flags should be respected."

Vernon and the veteran claim a maintenance worker acting on recommendations from the management office ordered the flags taken down.

A manager in the mobile park's office wouldn't give too much detail but did say residents are allowed to display flags -- just not mount them on the structure. However, CBS11 found numerous homes in the community had flags affixed on to their structures just like the man in question does.

Hickory Creek Mobile Home Park's office sent CBS11 the following statement:

We welcome our residents to proudly display flags at their homes. At most of our communities you will be greeted with flags at the entrance that we have also displayed.  We do however, ask our residents make sure the brackets for the flag poles are not affixed to the deck or home. This ensures that there are no damages to the home.

Vernon says she too now flies to flags outside of her door as a sign of solidarity with her neighbors. "It's a symbol of where we've come from as a country and our values, and the sacrifice to be the great nation we are today."
