DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas man who in 2015 hit a bicycle rider so hard he stuck in the car windshield has pleaded guilty to charges.

Silverio Alaniz pled guilty to charges of Accident Involving Death and Criminal Negligent Homicide.

It was last July when Alaniz, now 20-years-old, was speeding in Pleasant Grove and hit Jimmie Sines as he rode his bike. While the impact impaled Sines in the windshield Alaniz drove another half mile before dumping the man's body in an alley and driving away.

Sines was a neighbor of John Espinoza who remembers the day the accident happened. "I was shocked 'cause he [Sines] had just gone up the street riding his bike and then we heard all the sirens and ambulances afterwards. Then my next-door-neighbor came over here and told us he may have gotten run over," he said.

Espinoza said his friend was a fixture in Pleasant Grove. "I knew him because he was always going up and down the street pushing his lawnmower, because he did mow yards for the neighborhood. He was very, very friendly. He always had his dogs with him… that walked along with him. He did like animals."

For his guilty plea, Alaniz will serve five years in prison and 10 years on probation.
