Police: Threatening Letters Sent To Area Hispanic Families
GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Garland police are trying to figure out who is sending threatening letters to area Hispanic families, telling them to leave Texas.
According to authorities, the typed, form letters have all been addressed to different homes, but have a similar message.
So far, letters have been sent to four families.
"It refers to them, in the letter, as Latinos and basically that they need to leave Texas," said Garland Police Department spokesman Joe Harn. "The letter is written where it's in a threatening type manner."
Police are now processing the letters to see if they can lift any fingerprints.
City councilwoman Laura Perkins Cox represents the district where the menacing hate mail has been sent. She is at a loss why someone would target a middle-class neighborhood full of working homeowners.

Cox will introduce a resolution deploring whoever is behind the mail. She has the full support of Mayor Ron Jones.
While the threats are being taken seriously, police say they do not believe the people threatened are in danger of being harmed.
