Story Update:

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) sent a notice August 11 that air quality monitoring was conducted within one mile upwind and downwind of the incident. The only reading noted was for smoke one mile downwind. There were no volatile organic compounds noted.

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The Evergreen Paper Recycling plant caught fire Monday around 6:30 p.m. and there are concerns late Monday about air quality.  The conditions are worse than expected and people living within a mile of the plant are told to stay indoors for now.

Thick, black plumes of smoke could be seen for miles from the three-alarm fire from Everman Parkway.

There are no reports of injuries or evacuations and by 7:30 p.m. the fire was out.

However, firefighters will stay out there well into the night to monitor possible hot spots.
