FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A hero on and off the street, the roles for a Fort Worth police officer have shifted and now he needs the community's help.

When Officer Damon Cole is not patrolling the streets of his beat, he spends his time visiting sick children all around the country, dressed up as their favorite superhero.

But now Officer Cole is the one who needs support.

"I'm not ready to lose my dad. I don't want to lose him. He's my world," said Cole.

Doctors cannot seem to figure out why Cole's father Charles' brain is hemorrhaging. Despite undergoing surgery after surgery, the bleeding will not stop.

"It's like someone hitting you in the middle of the stomach and taking all of the air out of you," said Cole. "When you see one of your loved ones especially someone you look up to just deteriorating in front of your eyes, it's heartbreaking because you want to help."

But this superhero is now in need of rescuing.

Cole is only asking for prayers and support from the community he serves selflessly.

"I don't like reaching out for a helping hand. I like to be the one that's helping you or somebody else," said Cole. "Just want my dad back. That's the only thing I can ask for."

Cole said anyone who wants to help can donate to his charity so he can continue help bring smiles to more sick children around the country.
