North Texas Communities Celebrate Nat'l Night Out
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Each year National Night Out events bring together residents, neighborhood watch volunteers and police, all in an effort to get acquainted with each other -- for the good of the community.
Most National Night Out events are held in August, but Texas uses the alternative date of the first Tuesday in October to avoid hot weather. The goal of the events is to increase awareness anti-crime efforts by informing residents about community police programs, encouraging participation in neighborhood watch initiatives, and just to get out and meet your neighbors.
CBS 11 News will be at events across North Texas tonight and will have more on the individual events.
Will you be participating in National Night Out festivities in your neighborhood? If you're heading out, take some pictures while you're at your local event and post them on the CBSDFW Facebook page.
