North Texan Captures Video Near Boston Bomb Site

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Many North Texans who ran or watched the Boston Marathon are returning home, and one of them may have captured a very important video of the explosion and horror near the race's finish line.

Tim Peebles, from Longview, was watching his son compete in the marathon.  He didn't realize until hours after recording this that he was standing near the blast zone.

"I almost went to my knees because I was probably standing there right by the bomb. I don't know for how long," Tim Peebles, Longview resident.

It's unknown if any of these people standing around Peebles were still here an hour later when the explosion happened.  Peebles and his son turned it over to the FBI hoping it will be useful in the search for the person behind the terror attack.

"We pinpointed that he was within ten feet of where the bomb was and he was there over an hour waiting for me to finish," said J.P Peebles.

Other marathoners returned to North Texas with weary faces and memories they didn't expect to have.

"It was pretty gruesome.  I saw a lot of people that had lost limbs and it was just really, really tragic," said Christina Ledesma.

Jennifer Wilford, who also ran in the marathon said, "There's a combination of being so sad but, yet so thankful."

All of the runners CBS 11 spoke with say they will return to Boston for next year's marathon.
