Jerry Jones Defends GM's Performance
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones came to the defense of his head coach on Thursday. On Friday, he was defending the performance of his GM.
On his weekly interview with the G-Bag Nation on 105.3 The Fan, Jones evaluated his performance as the primary decision maker.
"The facts are that I really do think the way things have rolled out, that I'm getting to do some of the best work that I've done, relatively speaking in my career of these last several years," said Jones.

Dallas currently sits at 5-5, a half game back of Philadelphia in the NFC East.
The team narrowly missed the playoffs the last two seasons, losing the de facto division championship games in week 17. 'America's Team' last appeared in and won a playoff game in 2009, when Wade Phillips was still the head coach.
But Jones believes his time as GM is far from ever, saying that he plans to remain the owner and GM for the next 15-20 years.
"Of course, I said it, and I really meant that and just think about that a minute: Why wouldn't you?" said Jones.
"One of the reasons that I to some degree have taken the risks that I have over the years and kind of had the professional life that I followed is so that I get to decide when enough is enough -- God willing. So I do get to decide that. It's a certain part of working for yourself if you still are standing when the time comes. So I get to really make that decision, and I want to make it in a way that I think is in the best interest of the team, franchise and really our fans."
Jones maintained that the best arrangement for the Cowboys is the current one, in which the owner and GM are one and the same person -- for better or worse.
"It's unfortunate that over these last five or six years that we haven't had a few things turn right for us at the end of the season, needing to win one of out of two games to get into the playoffs, having a healthy quarterback, all of those things. But we've been a lot closer than it seems."
And what about all of the fans calling for the owner to fire the GM?
"To some degree -- this is going to sound bad -- I can be doing anything I want to do," said Jones. "Where I want to be is with that team."
