Irving Police Looking For Driver Who Hit & Killed Bicyclist

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - The Irving Police Department is asking for help identifying the person who hit and killed a bicycle rider over the weekend.

The crash happened Sunday in the 400 block of West Shady Grove Road at Rindie Street.

Police received a call about an injure person laying in the roadway and officers got to the scene just before 6:00 a.m. One there they found a critically injured woman who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle.

The victim, 40-year-old Heather Ann Loughlin, was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas but did not survive.

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver. The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male who stands about 5'4" and at the time of the crash wore his hair in a ponytail. The man is about 30 years old and was driving an early 2000's model Nissan Altima.

Anyone who saw the hit-and-run, has information about the fatal crash or knows the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Irving police at 972-273-1010 and reference case number 16-17635. Tips can also be sent to the department by email.
