Some Great DFW Area Sports Bars

by Jill Krause

Ahhh, I can almost hear it now- the sound of the pre-game show blaring over the surround sound. I can smell the hot wings and taste the potato skins. I love me a good football season, and I'm thrilled this year's is upon us. For many, it's not just the actual games that are exciting, but it's the rituals that surround them. One classic football season ritual is enjoying the game from a good ol' American sports bar.

I'm not going to claim that I have the top 4 sports bars in all of DFW narrowed down and in order for you here, but I will tell you that these came highly recommended. So if you're looking for a friendly place to escape to this fall, where you can enjoy a game, some traditional bar fare, and an energetic atmosphere, check these out.

The menu boasts bar food that's been taken to the next level, and depending on the location, you'll be surrounded by anywhere from 30-80 HD televisions.

Okay, so BJ's isn't exclusive to DFW. It is what you would call a "chain." That said, it has great beer (that they brew themselves), great food (their pizzas are always a hit), plenty of TVs in the bar area, and most importantly, it's easy to find one near you. It's also a family-friendly establishment, which is great if you're bringing Jr. along to enjoy the game.

Ten Sports Grill

1302 Main St.
Dallas, TX 75202
214-748-1010
Ten Sports Grill - CBS Dallas/Fort Worth

Ten hosts 10 HDTV's and a 110" projection TV, along with a basic menu you'd expect to find in any sports bar. It appears the biggest draw for Ten is that it's not flashy. It's not trying hard. It's your basic, old-fashioned sports bar, and that seems to sit well with a lot of people.

Press Box Grill

1623 Main St.
Dallas, TX 75201
214-747-8226
Press Box Grill - CBS Dallas/Forth Worth

Press Box Grill is one of the few places downtown open after 6. If you're downtown during your team's big game, this is the place to go. They offer over 36 beers on draft and another 40 in bottles. The menu consists of your typical bar fare, and this is one of the only places in the area you'll find a menu like that. It's located in the historic Wilson Building on the corner of Elm and Ervay, and it's home to 17 flat-screen TVs and a 112" HD 1080p projector screen.
