Gas Grenade Explosion Injures Three
MIDLOTHIAN (CBSDFW.COM) - A gas grenade explosion injured three people Saturday night.
The Midlothian Police Department said on Sunday that three people were injured when the grenade denoted around 9:00 p.m. at a home in the 3400 block of Charring Cross Road.
One man suffered diminished vision in one eye. He was transported to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas.
The two other people suffered minor cuts. According to police they did not require treatment.
The grenade was identified as a 1950's M25A1 CS grenade carrying a powdered tear gas substance. The grenade was a family heirloom from the grandfather of the victim's wife.
"They believed that the grenade was inert - just one that had been basically defused that wasn't an actual working grenade," said Midlothian Police Captain John Spann.
Police think the pin either fell out or was pulled out before the explosion occurred.
