Faber Happy To Support Teammate Dillishaw At UFC 177

DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) -  Urijah Faber has been the face of his Sacramento based "Team Alpha Male" mixed martial arts gym since it's inception many years ago.

He held the 145 featherweight title in the World Extreme Cagefighting promotion long before The UFC (which is owned by the same parent company) dissolved it and absorbed the promotion's fighters into its' own organization.

The camp has long been known for turning out some of the biggest names in the lower weight classes (Joe Benavidez, Chad Mendez, Danny Castillo), but none bigger than Faber himself.

Now for the first time, someone other that Faber has brought a world title back home to the camp, and as a result Urijah finds himself doing interviews to promote and preview Saturday's UFC 177 main event in Sacramento that will feature his protege, UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillishaw.

Richard Hunter spoke with Urijah Faber about what he expects from T.J. Dillishaw at UFC 177:

Four months ago Dillishaw defied 10-1 odds to pull off one of the biggest upsets in UFC title history when he knocked out then champion Renan Barao in the fifth round after dominating him throughout the previous four. Dillishaw fights in Faber's 135 pound weight class, and with Faber ranked as a top contender within the division, it's not inconceivable that the two friends could eventually have to face off for the title.

For now though, Faber is content to tell anyone who will listen why they were wrong to doubt Dillishaw in the first fight, and why Saturday night's rematch with turn out much the same way, certainly with Dillishaw's hand raised in victory.

UFC 177 airs live from Sacramento, Saturday night 9:00 pm CT, exclusively on pay per view.
