DPD Launches Crime Tip Website
The Dallas Police Department is taking another step into the world of high-tech.
iwatchdallas.net is being launched today, similar to a plan already used in Los Angeles. The idea is to get people to keep a closer eye on their neighborhoods and to send in tips, photos --even video---using iPhone, Android and Blackberry applications.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown says few people in their 20's and 30's take part in crime watch programs, so he's hoping the new website will get them involved. The ACLU's Matt Simpson tells the Dallas Morning News that the potential for impropriety is still there, so the "vetting" process is critical.
