Dallas Residents Urged To Get Checked For Mercury Exposure
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - The City of Dallas is urging some residents near a local park to get checked for possible mercury exposure.
Parks department crews found approximately 1,000 broken electrical and fluorescent light bulbs dumped at the "Peary play lot" and an adjacent field in south Dallas.
Initial tests show the bulbs contained mercury, and residents are urged to get checked for possible exposure.
Nakea Noble's sister and niece live nearby. Noble says her sister has already had an allergic reaction.
"It's very important for me for the City of Dallas to do a cleanup in this area because our kids go to this park. And although I don't live over here, my niece is here, so it's very important to me."
A professional remediation team has cleaned up the areas.
