Dallas County Health Reports 3rd West Nile Related Death

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas County Health department is reporting someone has died from West Nile.

According to officials, the victim lived in the 75149 zip code in Mesquite and was diagnosed with west nile neuro-invasive disease.

The victim is the third person to die in Dallas County of west nile this year.

With the warm weather sticking around, officials are reminding people to be aware of mosquitoes and use the 4Ds to reduce their risk of exposure.

  • DEET All Day, Every Day: Whenever you're outside, use insect repellents that contain DEET or other EPA approved repellents and follow instructions.
  • Dress: Wear long, loose, and light-colored clothing outside.
  • Drain: Drain or treat all standing water in and around your home or workplace.
  • Dusk & Dawn: Limit outdoor activities during dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
