LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens Tuesday night recovered the body of a 28-year-old man who drowned in Lake Lewisville Sunday.

Game wardens, the Lewisville Fire Department and the Denton County Sheriff's Department had been searching for the swimmer.

Clifford Swofford with the game wardens said a man jumped from a boat into the water at around 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

Swofford said the boat began to drift away and the man could not reach it.

The man's girlfriend threw a life jacket into the water for him, but it did not reach the man.

Swofford said the girlfriend jumped into the water but could not locate the man.

The girlfriend was picked up by a different boat after the one she jumped from floated away from her.
