Best Healthy Eating Restaurants In Dallas
Healthy eating in Dallas is almost an oxymoron. Chicken fried steak and deep-fried anything are found in abundance. The overload of bold dishes often overshadows the need or want for anything low in calories, and devoid of grease. There is hope, however, because the horizon is filled with hidden healthy treasures. Organic, creative, body-loving foods are all attributes of Dallas' healthy dining options. - By Caodan Tran, Dallas Food Blogger
Bliss Raw Café and Elixir Bar
6855 Greenville Avenue
Dallas, TX 75231
(214) 987-0204
www.blissrawcafe.com
This shoebox of a restaurant on Greenville Avenue is overwhelmingly under-appreciated. It's goal of promoting raw and organic foods make it a one of a kind restaurant in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Raw foods are unprocessed and never reach a temperature of 115 degrees Fahrenheit. Dehydration is the equivalent to "cooking" when it comes to raw food. Bliss Raw Café has a Rawsagna (lasagna equivalent) consisting of layers of sliced zucchini, heirloom tomatoes, basil pistachio pesto, sun dried tomato sauce, and pine nut ricotta cheese. Most of the "cheese" at Bliss is a combination of various nuts and seasoning.
Kalachandji's
5430 Gurley Avenue
Dallas, TX 75223
(214) 821-1048

This Hare Krishna temple doubles as a restaurant, offering lunch and dinner buffets. The food is absent of animal products, garlic, and onion. There is a menu posted next to the buffet line indicating if a product contains dairy or wheat. The food is Indian-inspired and offered in mass quantities. The interior of Kalachandji's is beautiful and peaceful and the food is calming.
Central Market Café On Lovers Lane
Multiple locations including:
5750 E. Lovers Lane
Dallas, TX 75206
(214) 234-7000
www.centralmarket.com
Central Market has become a major shopping destination because of the seemingly never-ending selection of, well, just about everything. Chef-prepared dinners for two sit next to their fresh, sold by the pound salad bar. Processed foods are made on site, and daily features are rotated regularly. From noodles, to burgers, and entrée sized meat and fish – decisions are hard to make, but understand it will be good, and most of it's pretty good for you, too.
Spiral Diner and Bakery
Multiple locations including:
1101 N. Beckley Avenue
Dallas, TX 75203
(214) 948-4747
www.spiraldiner.com
Spiral Diner is an all vegan haven serving Dallas and Fort Worth. Despite the restaurant's goal of serving food absent of animals and their byproducts, the diner still plays with mock products and recreates texture for the skeptical. Its mission extends beyond offering cruelty free and healthy food; it also integrates responsible business practices and exercises a concern for local grassroots movements. Seitan and tofu substitute chicken and meatballs. And baked goods there neither show nor need any butter or dairy.
