Best Ethnic Grocery Stores Around Dallas

Whether you're looking for something new and unique to eat or trying to find authentic ingredients to make your grandmother's famous dish, an ethnic grocery store is just the place to look. You can find fresh tortillas, imported Italian wine and authentic Polish pierogies in Dallas/Fort Worth so long as you know where to look.

Part store, part deli, Jimmy's Food Store carries imported Italian wine and food galore. Treasures are just waiting to be discovered, from frozen ravioli to Italian cookies. The deli takes up its share of the small room. Only the regulars know that the hidden back room is available for eating the deli's fresh sandwiches. Parking is difficult, since there are only a few spots and none of them seem long enough to fit an entire car, but if you avoid peak times, the store's offerings make it worth a trip.

Taj Mahal Imports carries Indian cuisine necessities like spices, beans, lentils, teas and coffees, along with staples like fresh produce and frozen dinners. The store is also home to a bakery and food stand serving some of Dallas' best Indian street food. Some delights at the food stand include Samosas (a fried pocket stuffed with potatoes, onions, peas and more), Aloo Tikki (a croquette-type mash of boiled potatoes and spices) and Pani Puri (a bite-sized fried crisp filled with spices, potato, chickpeas and more), all for very reasonable prices. Food isn't the only thing you'll find though; goods like Hindu altars and statues are for sale as well.

Super Mercado Mexico is best known for its tacos served at the taqueria daily. The tortillas are made fresh daily and have been called the best in Dallas. There is a nice selection of authentic groceries imported from Mexico and the produce, especially avocados, shouldn't be missed either. The store has been around for over 30 years, and also has a location in Oak Cliff and Pleasant Grove.

This North Dallas deli always has lunchtime patrons browsing the small shops while waiting for their sandwiches to be made. The market offers a variety of primarily Eastern European goods like pierogies, fresh pastries and other European spices and candies otherwise hard to find in this city. European Market & Deli is located at the intersection of Central and Forest.

Saigon Mall is actually an entire mall that includes shops, food-court style restaurants, a nail salon and bubble tea. The largest area, and biggest attraction, is Hong Phat, a Vietnamese supermarket. The supermarket is cleaner than many and offers the usual large selection of inexpensive fruit, veggies, breads and everything else Vietnamese. Make the supermarket a stop on your next visit to this unique mall.
