Armed Homeowner Detains Burglary Suspect

COMMERCE (CBSDFW.COM) - Law enforcement officials in Commerce arrested a suspected car burglar after he was detained by a homeowner with a gun. The incident happened just before midnight on January 12, when police were called to the 2800 block of Bois d'Arc Street in regards to a report about a man breaking into vehicles.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they found 32-year-old Moses Miller of Commerce being detained by an armed resident.

The homeowner told police that his daughter saw the suspect inside of a friend's car. He was then allegedly witnessed breaking into a different car in the homeowner's driveway. The resident confronted Miller with a gun and held him captive until authorities arrived. Miller was then arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of burglary of a motor vehicle.

Miller was booked into the Commerce Police Department and then taken to the Hunt County Jail. He has since posted two bonds of $2,000 and was released from prison ahead of a trial.
