DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Four months after star Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib was shot in Dallas, Talib, through his attorney, said he shot himself by accident.

In a brief news release Dallas Police said:

On September 21, 2016, CAPERS Investigators met with Aqib Talib's attorney in Dallas. The attorney provided a letter that stated Aqib Talib admitted he shot himself accidentally. The investigation is on going at this time.

On June 5 around 3:40 a.m., Talib was brought to Medical City Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

At the time, Talib said he had been shot while in the Hamilton Park area. Investigators canvassed the Hamilton Park area and found no evidence of a shooting.

The bullet entered his right thigh and exited his right calf, according to the police report. Such a trajectory suggested a self-inflicted wound.
