WEATHERFORD (CBSDFW.COM) - A pair of alleged burglars must have figured it would take police at least a minute to get to the Belk's Department Store they were in.  It didn't.

Weatherford Police say an officer near the area shortly before 5:00 a.m. Thursday got to the scene at 205 Adams Drive in less than a minute.

Police say Officer Jason Morrow saw two suspects running from the front entrance area of Belk's. The suspects ran toward the west corner of the building carrying what appeared to be stolen items with them. Morrow ran down and caught one of the suspects. The second suspect jumped into what Morrow believed to be a silver Dodge Stratus, which had been parked on the northwest side of the building, and he got away.

Officer Morrow recovered numerous stolen items from the suspect he captured including jewelry, cologne, designer sunglasses and watches.

The total value of property stolen is still unknown, however it is estimated that several thousand dollars' worth of merchandise was recovered with the capture of the one suspect.

Adam Miguel Durante, 32, of Fort Worth is charged with burglary of a building, evading arrest and tampering with evidence.

The Weatherford Police Department is still investigating a similar burglary at the Weatherford Belk's Department Store in the early morning hours of 12-21-2015.

Detectives are actively working both cases and are not sure if the suspect we have in custody is tied to the original burglary in December of 2015. Detectives have been informed that multiple Belk's Department stores throughout the Metroplex have been burglarized within the last six months.

Detectives are currently working with Belk's Loss Prevention to obtain in-store video footage.
