2 Killed In Crash Of Small Plane South Of Houston

BRAZORIA, Texas (AP) — Two men have been killed in the crash of a small plane near the San Bernard River in Brazoria County.

The single-engine aircraft crashed about 10 a.m. in the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge near the intersection of Farm Road 2611 and County Road 306.

The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the pilot as 63-year-old David Leining of Santa Fe, who owned the Piper PA-32-300. DPS Trooper Stephen Woodard said the identity of his passenger was being withheld until relative can be notified.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
