ROWLETT (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — A 13th person has died from injuries from a North Texas tornado outbreak late last month.

According to Rowlett Mayor Todd Gottel and the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office, 73-year-old Trevor "Neil" Heslop died January 13. Heslop is the first victim from Rowlett to have died in the December 26 twister outbreak.

Nearly 450 buildings were damaged and destroyed by the EF-4 tornado that touched down in Rowlett. Heslop's home had collapsed.

In addition to homes and businesses, the Rowlett water tower was damaged from flying debris. City leaders say draining the tower has reduced the weight of the structure, and they're confident it will not collapse. Officials say engineering reports and cost benefit analysis will have to be evaluated before a plan of action, repair or tear down, can be determined.

Nine motorists and passengers were killed in Garland when a twister hit a roadway. Three people died in Collin County.
