Metro Detroit schools start running out of "snow days"

About 100 school districts, including Detroit Public Schools Community District, are closed Jan. 27 because of the cold wind chills. The repeated severe winter weather means many area districts have run out of their "snow day" emergency days for the 2025-26 school year.
