The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a 3.6-magnitude earthquake hit around 8:02 p.m and the tremors were felt in the Detroit area and as far as Lansing.
The epicenter was found near the town of Santiago Ixtayutla, close to the Pacific Ocean but tremors were felt in Mexico City more than 400 miles away.
Four Michigan State University students who are studying in Ecuador are said to be okay, following a massive earthquake in that country.
