For all the talk about Matthew Stafford and how quickly he would pick up a new system in Detroit, it was easy to forget one crucial factor.
The Detroit Lions opened the season at home for Monday Night Football, vanquishing the New York Giants with relative ease, led by an impressive Matthew Stafford.
Stafford emerged from the game with a 125.3 passer rating, but statistics tell only part of the story.

You kind of live just like a normal city. I think every city has their bad areas. The economy may be a little different here, but for the most part, it's cool."
Caldwell said last week the Lions would not name season-long captains and instead appoint the honors on a game-by-game basis.
The front office publicly announced that they were aiming to win the division title this year in the first year of the Jim Caldwell era.
