Wooley's Weekly Winners 6-15-12
With the middle of June now here and Father's day on Sunday, that means another week has passed and it's time for my weekly winners.
As always, follow me on Twitter @WooleyMammoth85 and let me know what you think of my list and who you would add and why.
LA Kings
After knocking off the top three teams in the Western Conference it's no surprise the Kings throttled the Devils in six games in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Typically I would have a problem with another LA team winning a championship, but since the Kings have never won a Stanley Cup and the Devils have won multiple cups, I'm happy for them and their fans.
LeBron James
It truly pains me to write this as I can't stand LeBron James and I hope he never wins a title, but after his performance in game two of the NBA Finals, how could I not include him?
He almost looked like he would be the goat of the game as the Heat's 16 point lead quickly evaporated as the 4th quarter and gave the Thunder a chance to tie after a LeBron turnover.
Kevin Durant however couldn't the shot to go and LeBron salted the game away with two clutch free throws. Congrats LeBron. Hope that's the only time you make this list.
Charles Tillman
It's not very often that fans run into athletes in a store and actually recognize them without their jersey on, but a student in Chicago did just that when he was spotted by a female student who was given a math problem that disrespected her hometown team.
The problem read: "The Packers play the Bears 4 times in two seasons. The Packers, being a much better team, have an 80% chance of winning each game. What is the probability that the Bears win all four games? What is the probability that the Bears win at least one game?"
After reading the problem, Tillman could have easily just brushed her off and did nothing.
He however took the time to not only give her an autograph, but address the teacher personally saying; "Mr. Amrein, This is Charles "Peanut" Tillman of the Chicago Bears and I'm shocked that you would have a problem like this for your students. The probability that the Bears would win in my opinion is 100%. Please do not and I repeat DO NOT send them home with math homework that is disrespectful to our team, city and our beloved Chicago Bears."
If that doesn't change a teachers perspective on story problems, than I don't know what will!
