Troy Man Accused Of Killing His Father Has Court Date Monday

TROY, Mich. (WWJ) - A 21-year-old Troy man, accused of killing his father, will be in court today to face a preliminary examination.

Patrick Mikes, Jr. is charged with open murder in the death of his father, 55-year-old Patrick Mikes, Sr. Mikes, Jr. pled not guilty through his attorney. He was charged less than a day before his father's body was found in a cornfield in Oakland County. An autopsy determined that Mikes, Sr. died from multiple blows to the head.

Troy Police say DNA evidence recovered from the basement of the family home prompted them to arrest Mikes, Jr., who would have begun his senior year at Notre Dame this year. He is no longer enrolled at the university, and is being held without bond at the Oakland County Jail.
