Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Orange barrels are abound this weekend on Metro Detroit roadways, so save yourself some time by planning your route ahead of time to avoid the many work zones.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have two lanes closed between Ecorse Road and Michigan Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have two lanes closed at Ann Arbor Road from 10 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work. In addition, eastbound and westbound Ann Arbor Road over I-275 will be reduced to a single lane.
I-696:
In Macomb County, the M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) ramp to eastbound I-696 will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
I-75:
In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will be reduced to a single lane from Baldwin to Sashabaw roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
In Oakland County, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed from Wattles to Big Beaver roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
I-94:
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed at Haggerty Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing road and bridge work.
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Wyoming Avenue and I-96 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road and bridge repair.
In Detroit, the Warren Avenue overpass above I-94 will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing repair.
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed at Haggerty Road from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work. In addition, the ramp from northbound Haggerty to westbound I-94 will be closed.
M-1 (Woodward Ave):
In Oakland County, the two left lanes of northbound Woodward will be closed from I-696 to 12 Mile Road from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for drainage work.
In Oakland County, the right two lanes of southbound Woodward will be closed from 14 Mile to 12 Mile roads from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for drainage work.
M-5 (Grand River Avenue):
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound Grand River Ave will have two lanes closed at Elizabeth Street from 6 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday for utility work.
M-10 (Northwestern Highway):
In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed from Orchard Lake to Beck roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work.
M-15 (Ortonville Road):
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-15 will be reduced to a single lane, under flag control, between Wolfe and Grange Hall roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.
M-29:
In Macomb County, northbound M-29 will have a single lane closed from Baker to County Line roads from 6 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for utility work.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, the two left lanes of northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed under I-94 from 4 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
M-59:
In Oakland County, a moving, single lane closure on eastbound and westbound M-59 between Opdyke and Crooks roads from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday for punch list work.
In Macomb County, eastbound M-59 will have two lanes closed from Van Dyke Avenue to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.
Beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 27:
M-1 (Woodward Avenue):
In Oakland County, the right lane of southbound Woodward will be closed from 12 Mile to 10 Mile roads from 6 a.m. Monday until 5 p.m. Thursday for drainage work.
M-10 (Northwestern Highway):
In Oakland County, single lane closures on northbound and southbound M-10 from 14 Mile to Beck roads nightly starting at 8 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. beginning Monday and ending Saturday.
Daily single lane closures will be in place between Franklin and 12 Mile roads starting at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
M-15:
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-15 will be reduced to a single lane, under flag control, between Wolfe and Grange Hall roads nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday and ending Friday.
