Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't let lane closures and traffic back-ups spoil your weekend fun. Plan ahead and expect to leave early, especially if you're headed to Detroit for the Lions' first preseason game or the Kid Rock concerts and block parties.

The following construction activities are scheduled. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to adverse weather.

I-75:
In Detroit, southbound I-75 ramp to northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed Friday from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. for bridge inspection.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have the two left lanes closed from Squirrel to Adams roads, while northbound I-75 will have the two left lanes closed from Rochester to Livernois roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday for maintenance.

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 exit to Crooks Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday for maintenance work. A detour will be posted.

I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 will have rolling two-lane closures between I-94 and 8 Mile Road from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for detailed bridge inspections.

I-696:
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-696 will have the left lane closed between Mound and Dequindre from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing construction.

I-94:
In Detroit, the following lane closures are necessary for overnight resurfacing:
Westbound I-94, right and center lanes closed from Allard to Whittier roads from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday.
Westbound I-94 right and center lanes closed from Whittier to Newport roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.
Westbound I-94 right and center lanes closed from Newport to Gratiot from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.

In Harper Woods, the southbound Moross Road U-turn bridge above I-94 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday, while the northbound Moross Road U-turn bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday for maintenance.

I-96:
In Wayne County, westbound I-96 will have the three left lanes closed from Farmington to Newburgh roads from 8 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday for maintenance work.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Detroit, northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed between I-96 and M-5 (Grand River Ave) from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work. Detours will be posted.

In Wayne and Oakland Counties, M-39 will remain closed between the Lodge Freeway and I-96 until late October.

M-59 (Hall Road):
In Macomb County, westbound M-59 will have two lanes closed from Hayes to Van Dyke from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):
In Macomb County, southbound Groesbeck will have two lanes closed from 10 Mile to 8 Mile roads from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for maintenance.

Scheduled to begin Monday, August 15:

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):
In Detroit, the ramp from northbound M-10 to southbound I-75 will be closed Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for bridge inspection.

I-94:
In Wayne County, Belleville Road over I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting at 9 a.m. Monday until late September for extensive overpass repair.

M-59:
In Oakland County, eastbound M-59 will be reduced to a single lane beginning each evening at 7 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following morning in segments from Milford Road to Pontiac Lake Road for resurfacing prep work until early September.
