Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There's plenty of construction to go around this weekend, so save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones in Metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275:

In Wayne County, CSX railroad has not completed the repairs to the tracks on Haggerty Road, so the double lane  closure on northbound I-275 from Palmer to Ford Road has been moved from Saturday to Monday, August 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  In addition, the eastbound Ford Road ramp to northbound I-275 will be closed at 9 a.m. Monday until Oct.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of eastbound and westbound I-696 will be closed at Van Dyke Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday for sign truss work.

I-75:

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have the two left lanes closed from Joslyn to Sashabaw roads from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair. In addition, the Baldwin Road and southbound Joslyn Road ramps to northbound I-75 will be closed.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have the two right lanes closed at Coolidge Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the left two lanes of westbound I-94 will be closed from Oakwood Boulevard to Pelham Road from 7 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing work.

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between US-12 (Michigan Ave) and I-96 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing and bridge work.

In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed, with intermittent 15-min total closures, at Vining Road from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday for sign truss removal and installation. In addition, the ramps from northbound and southbound Wayne Road to eastbound I-94 will be closed.

In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed, with one intermittent 15 min total closure, at M-39 from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday for sign truss installation. In addition, the ramps from northbound and southbound Oakwood Boulevard to westbound I-94 will be closed.

M-29 (23 Mile Road):

In Macomb County, the westbound M-29 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Saturday for ongoing resurfacing of I-94.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Wayne County, the left lane of northbound M-85 will be closed from Gibraltar to Vreeland roads from 3 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Monday for bridge work.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne County, northbound M-39 from Allen to Van Born roads, and southbound M-39 from Oakwood Boulevard to Pinecrest Drive, will be reduced to a single lane from 4 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work at the I-94/M-39 interchange.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, a single lane will be closed on northbound and southbound Northwestern Highway between 12 Mile and Beck roads starting at 9 p.m. tonight and ending at 9 p.m. Sunday.

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-10 will be reduced to a single lane between Orchard Lake and Franklin roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. on Monday for resurfacing.

M-15:

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-15 will be reduced to a single lane with flag control from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for resurfacing.

M-14:

In Wayne County, westbound M-14 will have alternating two lane closures from I-275 to Sheldon Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday for pavement repair.

M-3 (Gratiot Ave):

In Macomb County, northbound M-3 will be reduced to a single lane from Harrington to Welts roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.

In Macomb County, southbound M-3 will be reduced to a single lane from Colonial Court to Wellington-Crescent Road starting at 2 p.m. Sunday until the end of August for reconstruction.

Scheduled to begin the week of Monday, August 6:

I-94:

In Macomb County, the eastbound I-94 exit to 26 Mile Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday until August 27 for reconstruction. A detour will be posted.

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning starting Monday and ending Friday for resurfacing.

In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have a single lane closed from Quirk to Belleville roads daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday for bridge work. In addition, the ramp from southbound Belleville Road to eastbound I-94 will be closed. The single lane closure will be extended to a double lane closure overnight beginning at 8 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning.
