Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - If you're traveling this weekend, save yourself some time and patience by planning your route ahead of time to avoid work zones.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
FULL CLOSURE
M-5 (Grand River):
In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound Grand River between Farmington Road and Grove Street will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday for a local festival.
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Milford Road will be closed under I-96 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday for bridge work. Detours will be posted utilizing Pontiac Trail and Wixom Road.
I-275:
In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound Ann Arbor Trail over I-275 will be closed through late July.
In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound M-59 at Porter Street will have intermittent, 15-minute closures from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday for line crossing.
LANE/RAMP CLOSURES
I-696:
In Macomb County, the southbound Mound Road ramp to westbound I-696 will be closed from 4 a.m. on Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday. Traffic will be directed to eastbound I-696, then to the Van Dyke off ramp, to the service drive and back to westbound I-696.
In Macomb County, the left lane of eastbound I-696 and the right lane of westbound I-696 just west of Ryan Road will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 4. The 11 Mile off ramp traffic will be maintained.
I-275/I-94 interchange:
In Wayne County, the ramps from northbound I-275 to westbound I-94, and from eastbound I-94 to northbound I-275, will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday for ongoing bridge work. Detours will be posted for each ramp movement utilizing Vining Road off I-94.
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 at I-94 will have double-lane closures from midnight to 2 a.m. on Friday for bridge work.
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 between Warren and Plymouth roads will have double-lane closures from 10 p.m. Friday to midnight Sunday for pavement striping.
I-75:
In Oakland County, the left two lanes of southbound I-75 will be closed at Squirrel Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, the right two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Big Beaver to Wattles Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, expect intermittent single- and double-lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 at Featherstone Drive from 9 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday for bridge maintenance.
I-94:
In Macomb County, the entrance ramp from 23 Mile Road to westbound I-94, and the westbound I-94 exit ramp to 23 Mile Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing construction. Detours will be posted utilizing M-19 (New Haven Road) and 26 Mile Road.
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 over I-275 will have double-lane closures from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 from Ozga to Wayne Road will have a single-lane closure from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday for sign installation.
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 from Beech Daly to Inkster Road will have a single-lane closure from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday for sign installation.
I-96:
In Oakland County, westbound I-96 from South Hill to Milford Road will have single- and double-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday for barrier wall work.
M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):
In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 at 12 Mile Road will be reduced to two lanes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday for water main repairs.
M-39:
In Wayne County, the southbound M-39 ramp to westbound I-94 will be closed beginning at 4 a.m. on Friday for two weeks for bridge repairs.
