Tips Pouring In On Case Involving Ann Arbor Attacks

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor Police remain on high alert following a series of attacks on women near U of M's campus, and their investigation is yielding some new help from the public.

Authorities say they've received hundreds of tips on the five separate attacks including two sexual assaults ... all occurring within the last few weeks.

Investigators say tipsters have called in with descriptions of possible suspects, and others say they even recognize the man in the sketch.

Meantime, police are investigating a another attack in Ann Arbor. Police say a student walking to her car was grabbed from behind and forcibly fondled by a man before breaking away. She fled into an apartment. It's not known if this is connected with five previously reported incidents of sexual assault.

Currently, no arrests have been made and police continue to set up extra patrols both on campus and downtown.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ann Arbor Police Department's tip line at (734) 794-6939 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a 1,000 dollar reward for information leading to an arrest.
