The Snack Attack: Crispy M&M's S'mores Arrive Just In Time For Summer [TASTE TEST]
Crispy M&M's are pretty much the best kind of M&M's there are. Six years after they were introduced, Mars Chocolate yanked them off the shelves, leaving snack lovers across America crushed. It would be nine long years before Crispy M&M's returned to the market and our mouths. But the wait was worth it.
Now, M&M's is upping their game by introducing s'mores flavored Crispy M&M's just in time for summer.
As far as we know, these are the first flavored Crispy M&M's to hit the shelves. But they're only going to be around for a limited time, so get 'em while you can. I got this bag from Walmart, by the way.
Review: Crispy M&M's S'mores
Appearance: No bright inviting colors here, just a dingy color scheme to match the three elements of a s'more: Dark brown for chocolate, white for marshmallow, and what I can only describe as poo-brown for the graham cracker. They really should have found a different color to represent the graham cracker. A light beige color, like on the packaging, would have been perfect.
Aroma: There's a distinctive aroma about these but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I'd say it was a mix between chocolate, graham crackers and hints of coffee. Mocha, maybe?
Taste: The best thing about these M&M's is the crisp texture. It really amps up the graham cracker experience you get with a s'more. Do they actually taste like s'mores though? I'm going to say not really. You can tell that the chocolate is flavored but I didn't notice any hints of marshmallow or even graham cracker. The taste kind of reminded me of a malted milk ball -- not exactly like it, just reminiscent. After eating a handful, all I could pretty much taste was chocolate.
Pros: The crispness -- duh! Even if the flavor didn't exactly taste like s'mores, eating these M&M's is just as enjoyable as eating regular ol' Crispy M&M's. The chocolate is creamy and robust and keeps you coming back for more.
Cons: Lacking all elements of a s'mores flavor profile. Unappealing colors.
Rating: 6 out of 10 - I really wish I could have given these a higher score, but the flavor just wasn't there for me.
