Police Say Slippery Roads Caused Rollover Crash

A Belleville woman was seriously hurt in a Thursday morning crash along Southbound I-275 in Plymouth Township.

Police say a 2011 Ford Escape was changing lanes to make way for a school bus entering from the M-14 entrance ramp, when the driver lost control in the ice and snow-covered lane.

The vehicle hit the guard rail that was piled up with snow, causing the car to roll and flip over.

Both the driver, a 74-year old Belleville man and his 69-year old wife, the only passenger, were both wearing their seat belts.  The man has only minor cuts and bruises, but his wife was transported to UofM Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Michigan State Police are investigating the crash.
