Roseville Man Charged With Using Web To Try To Lure 14-Year-Old Into Sex

ROSEVILLE (CBS Detroit) They're on the lookout for more child victims.

Roseville police announced Thursday they arrested Darren Bailey, 33, of Roseville, on four charges, including two counts of child sexually abusive behavior, a 20-year felony; one count of using a computer to commit a crime, a 20-year felony; and one count of assaulting a police officer, a two-year felony.

Police say they were alerted to Bailey when  the father of a 14-year-old girl contacted them saying the girl had been receiving inappropriate messages on her computer from a subject claiming to be a teenage boy.

"The father was dubious of individual's intentions and notified the police of his fears," officers said in a press release.

Investigators posing as the victim began to exchange text messages with the suspect, and said Bailey made several requests for sexual favors, and photos.

"The suspect also sent nude photos of himself to investigators trying to entice his victim to meet with him," investigators said in the release.

Posing as the 14-year-old, cops made arrangements to meet Bailey for sex at a local park. Bailey was met by officers from the Roseville Police Department and S.E.M.C.A.C. who attempted to arrest the suspect.

Officers said Bailey attempted to flee and fought with arresting officers -- and a Taser was used against him.

Bailey was arraigned Thursday before Judge Catherine Steenland of 39th District Court, where bond was set at $1 million cash or surety.

The suspect will be held in the Macomb County Jail until his Sept. 11.

Until then, cops are gathering information, saying they believe there could be more victims out there.

Anyone with information to add to the case should call Roseville police at 586-447-4483.
