CBS DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard will miss two to four weeks after suffering a groin tear in Saturday's game, general manager Ken Holland told MLive on Tuesday.
Howard had been allowing an average of 2.11 goals, fourth in the league, and had been selected for the All-Star Game. Head coach Mike Babcock said Howard's injury will keep him out of the All-Star Game.
The Red Wings have a record of 22-11-9 and sit third in the Eastern Conference standings with 53 points. If Howard takes the expected maximum of four weeks to return to action, he could miss as many as 10 games.
