Report: Harrison Has Brain Tumor
DETROIT (WWJ) - According to reports, the nixed trade between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles may have saved Jerome Harrison's life.
ESPN reports that Harrison failed his physical in Philly because doctors found a brain tumor.
"In a trade you normally don't think of that," said WWJ Newsradio 950 Sports Reporter Rob Pasco. "You are certainly sad if it's a player you like or a player on the move who might have had a future here. But, in this case, this is the best thing that could have happened."
When Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was asked about the Harrison situation he said, "the matter was private" and wouldn't comment further. "Any conversations I've had with the players, I'm just going to keep that to myself," Schwartz said.
Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan also declined to comment.
Pasco said the 28-year-old running back is reportedly seeking further evluations and was obviously not on the practice field on Thursday. Harrison has been on the Lions' inactive list the last two weeks.
