Report: Chiefs File Tampering Charge Against Lions
The Detroit Lions failed to land former Kansas City Chiefs safety Jarrad Page this off-season, and now they've been accused of tampering by his old employer.
FoxSports.com reported today that the Chiefs filed tampering charges against the Lions, an accusation that, if proved, could result in a fine and loss of draft picks. A person familiar with the allegation said it centers on Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham and Page, though the particulars of the charge are unclear.
Cunningham was Kansas City's defensive coordinator in 2004-08. Page, a seventh-round draft pick in 2006, started every game his final two seasons under Cunningham.
In February, the Free Press reported that the Lions might be interested in signing some of Cunningham's former players. Page was set to be a restricted free agent at the time.
